Gavin Edwards
Year: 2006 - 2010
Position: Forward
Hometown: Gilbert, Arizona

Gavin Edwards is in his senior year as a Forward for the UConn Huskies.  He didn’t start playing basketball until around eighth grade.  Gavin’s dad played professional football so he played football as a youngster.  One day his dad told him to try basketball because he was taller than everybody.  “I tried it and just fell in love from there.”

When asked what his most memorable basketball experience has been so far Gavin responded, “Just playing for UConn.”

Gavin’s decision to come to UConn was an easy one.  “It’s just the best school for basketball.  It was a pretty simple decision for me.”

The transition from high school to college has been as Gavin referred to it “a change in life.”  You can’t depend on your parents as much.  You have to figure things out for yourself.  “Do what you have to do, when you have to do it, and just be responsible.”

Final Four Bound:  When asked what it will take to go to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Final Four this year Gavin said, “We just have to play our game.”
