Leon Tolksdorf is in his freshman year as a Forward for the UConn Huskies. He started playing basketball as a youngster with his father. A year later he joined a basketball club and has been playing since.
Leon's greatest basketball moments so far were making his commitment to UConn and being a player on the German National Team this past year playing for the European Championship.
Leon made his decision to come to UConn after his official visit. "It was an easy decision. After seeing the campus, talking to the coaches and the players and know the history of the program, UConn became my favorite school."
The transition from Germany to the United States took a few weeks. "I'm used to the style basketball that the Americans play but the first few weeks were kind of tough."
When asked what it takes to make Coach Ollie happy Leon said, "He wants us to be prepared both academically and on the basketball court. He wants us to practice hard and when he sees something in the game that we've improved, he'll be happy."
Leon is looking forward to the season opener in Germany. "I'm happy to be able to see my family and friends that will be at the game. It's going to be exciting."
