Lorin is in her junior year as a Guard for the UConn Huskies. She became interested in basketball as a youngster after watching the boys play and thinking it was something she could do, too.
Two experiences stand out as most memorable for Lorin while at UConn. “One -Winning the National Championship, I remember the end of that game. and how special it was, and two – Going to Camp Jewell (in the northwest corner of CT) for a week. That was an experience I’ll never forget.” Lorin is not an outdoors person and Camp Jewell is outdoorsy, so it was all new to her but she admitted it was a great bonding experience, and she hopes the team goes back to the camp again next year.
Lorin’s most memorable basketball experience prior to UConn was winning the state finals game during her junior year of high school. Her knees were shaking prior to the game. When she saw her dad in the stands, she dropped her fears, and went on to have an amazing game winning Most Valuable Player honors.
“I chose to come to UConn because when I came for my official visit the girls on the team were so much like a family. Everyone was so welcoming, and nice from the coaches to the players.”
After completing two years at UConn, Lorin said the game is a lot different from what it was in high school. “In college it’s a lot faster and you must limit your mistakes. In high school if you’re good, you shine but in college everybody is good. I’m playing with players Maya (Moore) and Tina (Charles) and players like they are all around the country.”
Final Four Bound: To make it to the Final Four again this year Lorin said, “The team is going to have to act as one. Everyone must invest their hearts and souls into this year.”
