Lorin is in her senior year as a Guard for the UConn Huskies. She became interested in basketball as a youngster after watching the boys play and thinking it was something she could do, too.
As a senior now, Lorin will be one of the leaders on the team. “I’m going to pass on the same leadership skills that Renee (Montgomery) and Ketia (Swanier) brought to me when I got here. It took me a few years to get those qualities but I understand what they were talking about and I’ll try to help these freshmen as a leader on and off the court.”
Two experiences stand out as most memorable for Lorin while at UConn. “One -Winning the National Championship, people don’t get to go through that often. Two – Going to Camp Jewell (in the northwest corner of CT) for a week. I would have to say when we went to Camp Jewell that really got us started that year, coming together as a team in ways that other teams could not handle. We worked that togetherness on the court and it made us who we were. That was an experience I’ll never forget.”
Lorin’s most memorable basketball experience prior to UConn was winning the state finals game during her junior year of high school. Her knees were shaking prior to the game. When she saw her dad in the stands, she dropped her fears, and went on to have an amazing game winning Most Valuable Player honors.
“I chose to come to UConn because when I came for my official visit the girls on the team were so much like a family. Everyone was so welcoming, and nice from the coaches to the players.”
Final Four Bound: “When you believe in each other the way we do and you know at the end of the day this is your sister, this is your home; you’ll work even harder on the court for each other. That’s something that will help us get there along with working hard, listening to the coaches and giving our best effort.”
