Caroline Doty
Year: 2008 - 2013
Position: Guard
Hometown: Doylestown, Pennsylvania

Caroline Doty is in her senior year as a Guard for the UConn Huskies. She became interested in basketball when she was about three years old. "My mom and dad were both athletes and I have two brothers. I grew up playing sports, and basketball is just one of my favorites."

As a red shirt senior Caroline will lead her team through her experiences on the court and the sidelines. "I'll be a positive influence letting them know that it's going to be rough, and overwhelming the first few months because they're not used to it.  I'll let them know it will work out if they keep working hard."

Reflecting on her UConn career so far Caroline said, "I could go on and on about what I've learned. In college it's more of a mind game. In high school I used my athleticism but with three knew surgeries behind me, I have to think and anticipate different situations." Defensively she tries to be at the right place at the right time, and offensively working the right plays and giving the ball to the right people at the right time.

Caroline's greatest memory to date at UConn is winning the National Championship against Stanford in 2010. "The whole game is probably the most memorable, beginning to end, including holding the trophy." Caroline's most memorable basketball experience before UConn was while playing Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball. "Winning our first National Championship when we were 12 years old was the best thing."

UConn was interested in Caroline from the beginning of her career when she was playing AAU basketball. "Just hearing about UConn, and being attracted by them from the beginning, I checked UConn out, loved it, and wanted to be a part of it."

Carolina said, "What makes Coach Auriemma happy is hard work, and playing smart."

When asked if the preparation for a big game is different than any other game Caroline said, "No, we don't play for the scoreboard, we try to be the hardest working team, making free throws, winning rebounds, doing all the little things, and those things bring us a "W" (win)."

Final Four bound: Caroline said, "It will take hard work, playing smart, hard defense, making shots, and just playing together to get back to the Final Four."
