Lauren Engeln
Year: 2010 - 2014
Position: Forward
Hometown: Laguna Hills, California

Lauren Engeln is in her sophomore year as a Forward for the UConn Huskies. She became interested in basketball as a youngster while watching her older brother’s basketball games and how much fun he was having.

Lauren’s most memorable basketball experience so far was during her senior year of high school playing for her AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) team Cal Swish. “We went to Augusta and won the Nike National Championship. We were the first West Coast team to ever win it, it was amazing.”

Lauren had narrowed her college choices to UConn, Duke, Vanderbilt, Maryland Universities and the University of Washington. “When I came to UConn to visit, it just felt right. The team was close and they made you feel like we would be together as a family for the next four years.”

What will Lauren bring to this team: “I’m going to do whatever I can, whatever they want me to do. I’m going to work hard all the time, and just give it all I’ve got.”

Final Four Bound: “It’s going to be a lot of hard work but I feel like if we listen to the coaches and do what they want us to do, we’ll be able to get there. ”
