Meghan Gardler is in her sophomore year as a forward for the UConn Huskies.
She grew up in a “basketball family,” and basically played basketball her whole life so far. Her dad is a basketball coach, and was Coach Auriemma’s high school basketball coach, and her dad, brother and sister-in-law all played Division I basketball at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
When Meghan came to UConn for her visit she met the team and loved it. “I fell in love with everything about UConn, what it had to offer, the history, and the team.”
Meghan didn’t really know what to expect when she arrived at UConn but feels the transition was smooth. “I had a lot of support from upperclassmen, and the coaches. They are really understanding that you’re a freshman, and don’t really know where you’re going or what you’re doing.”
Final Four Bound: She’s looking forward to getting to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Final Four. “That’s everyone’s goal, and especially to win a National Championship.”
