Tiffany Hayes
Year: 2008 - 2012
Position: Guard
Hometown: Lakeland, Florida

Tiffany Hayes is in her sophomore year as a Guard for the UConn Huskies. As a youngster Tiffany grew up around basketball with her brother, sister and mother all playing, so it was only natural that she became interested in it.

Tiffany’s greatest memory so far at UConn was winning the National Championship and the fact that it was during her freshman year.

Her greatest memory before she reached UConn was winning the State Championship during her freshman year at Winter Haven High School in Lakeland, Florida.

Tiffany got some help when it came time to make her decision to come to UConn. “My mom and my high school coach helped me. We knew UConn was one of the best basketball programs, and that’s what I wanted to be a part of.”

The transition from high school to college was big. “Moving away from Florida was a big transition, but it was a good one.” Tiffany has found that college basketball is a lot harder than high school because you are now among all good players compared to high school where players’ skills varied. “In college you are responsible to make yourself better, working on your game on your own time, in addition to team practices.”

Final Four Bound: “It’s going to take a lot of team unity, a lot of dedication, and twice as much hard work to get back to the Final Four and win another National Championship.”
