Charde Houston
Year: 2004 - 2008
Position: Forward
Hometown: San Diego, CA

Charde Houston is in her senior year as a Forward for the UConn Huskies.  She became interested in basketball around the age of 11.  “I wanted to run track or play football but my high school coach convinced me that I should play basketball based on my body and athleticism so I pursued it from then on.”

Charde’s decision to come to UConn was solely based on the family atmosphere at Connecticut.

Her most memorable basketball experience so far was becoming California’s high school all-time leading scorer with 3,837 points beating Cheryl Millers previous record of 3,446 points.

“I think college basketball is very different than high school.  High school doesn’t compare to college mentally or physically.  Everything as a whole is different.”

Final Four Bound:  Charde is looking forward to reaching the National Collegiate Athletic Association Final Four as a senior.  “Right now we know that the Final Four is something we set our goal for but at the same time we want to focus on what’s way before that in preparing ourselves.  We have a whole season ahead of us.”
